Community Service

The Brothers of Delta Sigma Phi are committed to volunteering within the community each semester.  Being active in the community is one aspect of the Delta Sigma Phi Brotherhood that is thought to be extremely important.  The Men Epsilon Omega Chapter at Illinois State University exemplify personal excellence through their work in the community and for those in need.  The Epsilon Omega Chapter takes part in such things as helping build houses with Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and other activities with children and the elderly.  Volunteering is a good deed that each member of Delta Sigma Phi will take part in on their journey to become a Better Man.

Delta Sigma Phi is a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity.  In the Fall Semester 2008 we help to build a house for a family who cannot afford one.  n September of 2008 we helped build a house in the Normal community.  We showed up on the Saturday morning at 7:45 and stayed until 5:00 pm to hang roof trussels, cut window framing, nail side frames, among other activities to contribute to the overall construction of the house.  As well as building the house, we take part in the “Trick or Treat for Change” which is a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. This event takes place each October during Halloween, in 2008 we raised about $1,500.
Each Spring Semester our Chapter takes part in The American Cancer Societies Relay for Life.  Relay for Life raises money to find a cure for cancer.  In April of 2008, we had 2 teams that raised a total of nearly $2,000 for the cause.  Each member raised money for their respective teams and we raised a very large amount of money, we look to improve that number each upcoming semester.
