Delta Sigma Phi, Epsilon Omega Chapter

Epsilon Omega History

Beginning as a social club on ISU's campus, a group of men taking on the name of Sigma Tau Alpha began looking for men of the highest caliber to start a nationally sponsored fraternity chapter. After two years of probationary membership, the Epsilon Omega Chapter of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity was chartered at Illinois State University on December 18, 1971.

During the chapter's early years, Epsilon Omega was very successful, recruiting many quality men to uphold the standards of Delta Sigma Phi. Delta Sigs were everywhere on campus and true leaders in the Greek system, holding IFC and student government positions and winning philanthropies and events all over campus. As years passed, the Delta Sigs became one of the leading fraternities at ISU, holding the most popular social events and parties on campus. Along with these parties, though, came decadence and apathy for the principles and values true to Delta Sigma Phi, which eventually led to the revocation of the Epsilon Omega charter in 1991. This group of brothers had forgotten the genuine meaning and ideals of Delta Sigma Phi.

In the spring of 1995, the Delta Sigma Phi National Headquarters decided it was time for Delta Sigs to once again flash their letters across ISU's campus and bring back the proud traditions and strong brotherhood that had left campus years earlier. Thirty-six men bravely joined the newly reformed Epsilon Omega Colony and worked tirelessly on recruiting more brothers to uphold the creed and standards of the Delta Sigma Phi which were forsaken years earlier. The new house became well noticed on campus and grew quickly, seeing its share of ups and downs, but still viewed by many of the other fraternities on campus as a small house. Finally, on April 26, 1997, Epsilon Omega regained its charter lost years earlier, to become a chapter once again. By this time, people realized that Delta Sigma Phi was once again a chapter to be reckoned with.

Since being re-chartered, our fraternity has grown to become one of the largest and strongest chapters, not only on campus, but also in the entire nation. The addition of quality brothers and loss of bad members has allowed Epsilon Omega to form the strongest brotherhood of any other house and rise to be the best fraternity in ISU's Greek system. Epsilon Omega has produced numerous campus leaders and has created several new Delta Sigma Phi traditions. The founding fathers who led us to re-charter set a very high standard of excellence, which has been continuously raised higher and higher each semester when a new pledge class comes to fill their shoes.
